I am sounding more and more like a mom everyday...

Hey girls!!

Ok so I think I've told some of ya'll already but what better place to spread the word than on our lovely blog :) I just wanted to put in a quick prayer request for my little connorbear!

His parents have known since he was a couple months old that he has a lower immune system than most babies his age. but a few days ago he had some bloodwork done to check the amount and quality of antibodies in his system. basically antibodies are the cells that fight off infection and he has a low number of these which makes him really prone to getting sick. they've known this for a while so in these past few months that ive been working for him, we haven't been able to have any play dates with other kiddos because he can catch pretty much any little cold or flu other kids have!

ANYWAYS, his parents are most concerned because while its normal for some kids to have low antibodies, the bloodwork showed that his level is too low. they're also afraid he doesn't make any or enough T memory cells. the way kristin explained it to me is that when you are exposed to a strand of the flu you've never seen before, typically you get sick. but after that, your body recognizes that type of flu the next time you encounter it and rather than getting sick, your body fights it off becuase the T memory cells tell your body what to do. so if Connor doesn't make any/enough of those, he could get sick over and over and his body wouldn't remember how to fight off even just the common cold when he comes in contact with it. this would mean he would have to be on an IV type of treatment indefinitely (it could be just for a few months or for the rest of his life)

so if you have a minute today, send up a prayer to the big guy for connor and his parents. poor kristin is a doctor for children with allergies and immune system problems so she is well aware of how bad connor's condition could get. so just pray that the results come back promising and that he will be able to get over this little bump in the road and be a normal healthy little man :)

much love! kath
